Do Aur Do Pyaar Movie Review:

It’s uncommon in Bollywood to get a quality rom-com and when the trailer of Do Aur Do Pyaar came in, I made up my mind not to miss this one.

The movie belongs to the chemistry between Vidya Balan and Prateek Gandhi – that’s the main crux of the review. It tries to say a lot of things in a lot of different ways but what stuck with me was the amazing chemistry between the pair.

In a nutshell, the movie is about a married couple happily engaged in an extra marital affair but suddenly find themselves romancing, flirting and re-discovering each other. It also reminded me a bit of Kaarwan.

Specially the first half of the movie is paisa vasool. You have never seen such a hilarious, witty take on a married couple rebounding. The scene where both of them are having a conversation with the dead grandfather’s family or the scene in a shady bar dancing on “bin tere sanam” stays with you and you can’t help but laugh your heart out. Vidya Balan and Prateek Gandhi just click together! There is very little backstory to how they ended up this way but that’s not necessary as well. Both Senthil and Iileana does a very good job as a support cast; I liked the way Senthil does a restrained performance.

The second half is where the story takes a serious turn and seems to lose its way a bit in the climax. Of course, it’s a predictable climax, but I’m not sure the road they took is convincing. You end up feeling for both of their love interests.

Relationships, especially Indian marriages are complicated; they definitely aren’t “Rosey” as they wrote in “Once Up on a Time”. The movie shows reality head-on and tackles this issue with a fresh take.

The music is amazing and goes well with the storyline, especially the Lucky Ali song. Do Aur Do Pyaar is worth a watch for its novel treatment and lead performances

3.5 out of 5. Watch in the Theatre.
